Truyện Thiên Nhiên Là gì? Một ví dụ: DAY AND NIGHT (Ngày và Đêm)

DAY AND NIGHT

“Day and Night were brother and sister. They had lived in the High Sky since the beginning of time, and together, they guarded and cared for all that lay in the heavens, so that the expansive Sky would always be clear and charming, hugging and protecting the earth.

Day is big and strong and full of life. Early in the morning, he walked the Sky with such power that it woke everyone and everything everywhere up. Whenever he went across the Sky from the East to the West, he would carry with him a radiant light which he called the Sun, a fiery ball so mighty that its blazing golden rays reached every corner of the earth. Brother Day loved his Sun so dearly because he always wanted to see everyone and everything everywhere clearly so that he could lend a helping hand when needed. And so, he always made sure that his Sun was shining brightly, bathing the earth with all its plants and creatures in radiant heat, permeating warmth and embracing new life. In Day time, under the Sun, all beings worked and hunted, and all plants thrived and all flowers blossomed. Sometimes, when it was sprinkling, Brother Day would use his Sun light to cast a magnificent rainbow bridge across the sky. Brother Day loved entertaining everyone and everything everywhere.

Night was Day’s sister. She was a gentle, loving and quiet girl who loved to wander the Sky in her black velvet gown which was decorated with hundreds of tiny little sparkling diamond stars. The trail of her gown was so very long and so very broad that when the evening came and she walked the Sky from the East to the West, the entire vast expansive Sky was covered, making it look dreamier than ever. She had her own silver light, which she called the Moon. The light from the silver Moon gleamed among the glistening diamond stars, casting a shimmering look on everything everywhere, enveloping the earth with the cool relaxing air. The black velvet sky and the silver strands of moonlight brought all creatures and all plants to a soothing and peaceful state where they would slowly slip into a sound resting sleep. Sister Night loved nothing more than the sound of nature: the rustling wind through the trees, the call of animals on their nocturnal hunt, the rhythmic breathing in sound sleep, and more and more. She loved watching over everyone and everything everywhere.

And just like that, Brother Day and Sister Night took care of the High Sky and entertained and watched over all beings and all plants on earth, time after time. They would take turns walking the Sky when Day light was about to reach the horizon, and Moon light glowed up from the same place. Brother Sun would go back to his place to rest and wait until his sister came home. Sister Night was usually tired from her journey, because she had to visit every home and every corner to make sure all beings and plants and flowers could rest, and because she was a very delicate girl, she would have to sleep for a very very long time after that. One time, seeing what happened, Brother Day decided that he would guard the Sky longer than usual, so that his little sister can have longer and better sleep. When it came to the time of the evening, instead of moving his Sun light towards the horizon to cast upon the earth the glorious red and orange color, he held his light higher, put it right in the middle of the High Sky, and stayed there. Day time was prolonged, everything and everyone everywhere was caught by surprise, but they did not mind, for they would have more time to finish their work, and after they finished their work, they could go out under the Sun light to play and celebrate extra Day time. Sister Night did not know about the incident, for usually it was the glorious red and orange beams of sunset that hit her bed and woke her up, and so she continued her long and cozy sleep.

The people began to do all the work that they had planned. The animals began to go find all the food that they had wanted. The plants began to grow, and the flowers began to bloom. Time passed by and eventually, the people finished all that they wanted to do and played all the games that they wanted to play. The animals ate all that wanted to eat and built all that they wanted to build. The plants bathed in all the Day light that they wanted to have, and the flowers opened all the petals that they had ever had. Brother Sun was overjoyed at the scene. He strolled the Sky from East to West, and West to East, his Sun light glowing brighter than ever. After some time, Brother Sun grew tired and decided to sit down to rest, and he put this Sun light right next to him, in the middle of the High Sky. He closed his eyes and dropped off to sleep. Time passed, and everyone and everything everywhere began to feel tired, their bodies ached, and their eyes hurt, the leaves withered, and the flowers drooped. “Too much Sun light,” they cried. “We need to rest,” they wept. But they could not, for the Sun was so bright, even when the people and the animals closed their eyes, the light could still shine through, and they would see all the colors of the rainbow dancing and moving before their closed eyes, and so, they could not rest. The plants could not fold their leaves and the flowers could not close up their petals because there was no darkness. Everyone and everything everywhere were in pain.

And at that time, Sister Night woke up after her first long sleep. She was astonished to see the weariness in all beings. So, she quickly put on her black velvet gown with tiny little sparkling diamond stars and went across the Sky to visit each and everyone and everything, to wish them a good Night sleep. The presence of loving, calming Sister Night and her gleaming Moon light instantly brought the earth to peace, and very soon, in the cool breeze of Night time, everything and everyone fell into restful sleep. Their muscles relaxed and their eyes fluttered. There was just silence and comfort all over the places on earth.

At the end of the Night time, Sister Night woke her brother up, and told him what had happened. And after that, Brother Day and Sister Night would share the time equally between each other, no one had more and no one had less, just like at the beginning of time. And together, they continued to watch over all beings, all plants and all flowers.

Song (from “Songs Children Sing and Play” Book)

“The Sun it rises in the day and in the evening slips away,

The Moon it rises in the night and fades away in the morning light.”
